Our Story

FAMILY OWNED & OPERATED SINCE 1990 IN SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO

After more than 10 years of restaurant work in Santa Fe, Julia and Carlos Castro fulfilled their dream of opening their own business in 1990; First, with the original El Comal, then with Café Castro.

With the help of Carlos's sisters, Ruth and Denia, Cafe Castro has become a staple of Santa Fe's dynamic local food culture.

Since February 2020: their daughter Alma, in collaboration with the Castro-Melgar Family and staff are pleased to bring you the traditional taste of Northern New Mexican Cuisine.

Santa Fe Local

A favorite with my family for over fifteen years. Relaxed dining in a friendly, clean environment with wonderful staff - the place is always hoppin'! The menu is simple and reasonably priced with delicious New Mexican fare served with homemade sopapillas - DIVINE! Daily specials are featured and you simply can't beat it for value. Highly recommend 👌

Best New Mexican food in Santa Fe! We drive all the way from Denver just to eat here. The staff is so inviting it feels like going to abuela's house!

Quality Authentic taste of New Mexico. Simple like your grandmother used to make. It's traditional native American ingredients that met Spanish flavor. It's like what you get after the Natives and Spaniards foods had children .
